AndrewH The mesh that comes with these is FAR too fine. This mesh type will clog immediately if used to vent either a dryer or a bathroom fan. And a clogged fan in a high area is a MAJOR problem. The mesh used in these types of vents to keep out birds and insects needs to be 1/4" inch galvanized steel mesh. What is used here is really screen, identical to the type you would see in a screened in porch.
